Judging Info
Overview
This year, Bluebonnet is implementing a judge scheduling process with advance judge registration. All medal categories are scheduled for a specific date and time. Judges will complete an online form within the BCOEM entry registration system to request to judge a specific medal category in advance which they do not intend to enter.
Judging sign-up
To express interest for judging specific flights of beer, please log onto the BCOEM system if you have an account, or create a new judging account to complete the request. Registering for a flight is a commitment that you will attend and arrive on time. Failure to attend the scheduled time will place an unnecessary burden on other judges and may limit the number of session you can reserve in the future.
Judging Reserves
We request that power judges and those with high flexibility would ideally sign up for multiple locations, so they may be assigned sessions where need is greatest, be moved to sessions that may be short a judge or fill in for one that cannot attend due to a last minute emergency.
Qualifications
The Bluebonnet Brew-off is a sanctioned BJCP and AHA Competition that takes pride in the judging process. All beer judges are welcome. First priority is given to official BJCP Judges and experienced non-BJCP judges.
The Bluebonnet Brew-Off is also an educational organization that conducts formal and informal judge training. We welcome prospective judges with no experience; please identify yourself as a novice judge so that you can be paired with an official BJCP Judge.
